Pathogen Genomics in Action: Designing Systems for Public Health Impact
The Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative (ASIA-PGI) Workshop introduces the key concepts, tools and frameworks that help decision-makers understand the importance and urgency of developing a national strategic plan for pathogen genomic surveillance. It is aimed at government officials and policymakers involved in strategic planning for infectious disease surveillance and control, and at technical experts from government, academia and industry. The workshop runs in two sessions: the first showcases six real-life case studies of how pathogen genomics has been used to shape public health policy, and the second brings together key local stakeholders — including relevant government ministries, JKNS, UNIMAS, SIDC and DVS — with ASIA-PGI to prioritise pathogens relevant to Sarawak and develop a tangible, sustainable investment case for implementing pathogen genomic surveillance.
