Professor Peter Eastwood is Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research & Innovation at Murdoch University, with overall responsibility for shaping the University’s research strategy, priorities, and performance. His role includes strengthening partnerships and funding pathways with both public and private sector stakeholders, while promoting research for the public good and communicating its societal value. Professor Eastwood has held several senior leadership roles, including Director of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute and Dean of Research in the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. He also served as Director of The Raine Study and was the inaugural Director of the Centre for Sleep Science at the University of Western Australia. Internationally, he has contributed as the Asia/Australasia representative on the World Sleep Society Governing Council and as Past President of the Australasian Sleep Association. He is also Past Editor-in-Chief of Respirology. His research has significantly advanced understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic lung disease and sleep disorders. With over 250 peer reviewed publications, 15,455 citations, and an H-index of 64, he has supervised 20 higher degree completions, 36 Honours students, and mentored 15 postdoctoral fellows and senior clinicians.
