Dr Bridgid Chin is a Professor in the Chemical and Energy Engineering Department at Curtin University Malaysia. She is recognised for her creative contributions to green technology, with a strong focus on converting biomass and municipal solid waste into renewable energy via thermochemical processes. Her work addresses real-world challenges, particularly climate change mitigation and clean energy development. She previously led an international research grant funded by the Japan–ASEAN Science, Technology, and Innovation Platform (JASTIP) on the techno-economic, environmental, societal, and governmental evaluation of oil palm residue conversion to alternative energies in the ASEAN region. In 2025, she was recognised as a World Top 2% Scientist (Stanford–Elsevier ranking) under Enabling & Strategic Technologies (Energy). She is currently leading a Sarawak state funded project on the sustainable utilisation of bamboo biowaste derived activated carbon for high-performance supercapacitors and soil remediation. Dr. Chin also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the IChemE Palm Oil Processing Special Interest Group (POPSIG) and actively collaborates with institutions across ASEAN, including Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, on sustainable biofuel research initiatives.
