Dr. Peter Yek Nai Yuh is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Technology at Universiti Teknologi Sarawak. With a robust background in microwave‐assisted thermal processes, his research centers on the design, development, and optimization of reactors for biomass torrefaction and pyrolysis. He has pioneered the integration of microwave heating with physical activation methods to produce high‐performance biochar and activated carbon from agricultural and industrial residues. Dr. Yek’s work spans bench‐scale experimentation through pilot‐scale demonstrations, emphasizing scalable conversion of waste and biomass feedstocks into value‐added carbon materials. In parallel, he investigates advanced water and wastewater treatment techniques, leveraging thermochemical and adsorption processes to address emerging environmental challenges. His multidisciplinary approach combines engineering design, process modeling, and experimental validation to deliver sustainable technologies for resource recovery and environmental remediation. An active collaborator, Dr. Yek has secured competitive research grants and authored numerous peer‐reviewed publications in high‐impact journals. His contributions not only advance fundamental understanding of microwave‐enabled conversion processes but also drive real‐world applications in bioenergy, carbon capture, and waste valorization.
