Bio

I am a Molecular Epidemiologist with over twelve years of research experience working at the human–animal interface, with a strong focus on infectious disease dynamics in low- and middle-income settings. My research has largely been grounded in One Health approaches, integrating molecular, epidemiological, and policy perspectives to address complex public health challenges. Until 2016, my work primarily focused on the transmission dynamics and burden estimation of zoonotic tuberculosis in Africa. During this period, I contributed to both local and global policy development, including engagement with the World Health Organization’s efforts underpinning the End TB Strategy with targets extending to 2035. This work supported evidence-based decision-making for zoonotic disease control across multiple African contexts. My current research centers on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) at the human–animal interface in developing countries. I focus on leveraging digital tools and data systems to enable cross-sectoral data integration and analysis, supporting surveillance, early detection, and coordinated response to AMR threats. Through this work, I aim to strengthen One Health implementation and inform policies that promote sustainable and effective control of AMR across interconnected human, animal, and environmental systems.
